Nutmeg Nor’Easter #3, but only Nutmeg Nor’Easter #2 for me personally! And the first time (I think) for an official venue for camping, hanging, eating and fire pitting. Cold Spring Farm was an awesome spot!
I rode to the farm from a friend’s house in Amston, a short and fun 10ish miles. It was cool to arrive by bicycle.

The bridge between camping and food and coffee. It was traversed many, many times by foot and bici.

I rode Blue Bike again this year, it’s a great bicycle for the ride. Soma Double Cross, the last year they made rim brakes. I often wish I had disc brakes when hearing the wheels I built get their rims sanded down by mud, guck and all sorts of abrasive nastiness.

We were all stoked to have live music in the morning again. That really is a treat. I love it.

TJ made a new friend. He actually made several new friends that day, but this one was by far the softest and cutest of them all.

This looked super fun! All the alleycat races I’ve done were in Hartford or Key West; and they were all paved and urban. I like the idea of getting some durt involved. A lot!

Absolutely beautiful morning for a ride.

TJ looking awfully happy for having only a single gear for the whole day. At least he had two brakes!

Crossing the great Connecticut River on the Essex Swing Bridge and its metal grate decking.

Ruth Hill Road. I loved every minute of it. The rocks, the water, the walking. This is life! We even rode bicycles a little bit!

The man himself, serving pie to the people! Thanks Ronnie. Or is it Mr. Romance? Or just Ultra? I really should have asked when i had the chance.

It’s always a treat for me to take the Chester/Hadlyme Ferry, especially as I live in Hartford and usually take the Rocky Hill/Glastonbury Ferry. Bu to be honest, that one is a treat too! Either way, it’s the best $2 you can spend on riding bicycles in Connecticut. Always the best way to cross the Connecticut River.

A lil zoom zoom action from the ferry photo. It was almost Halloween. This thing isn’t usually on the ferry. At least I hope not!

I have absolutely no idea what Brendan and I were discussing, but likely a map or routing.

There is quite the selection of bikes in this photo. Folks rode all kinds of rides.

Can’t say no to the opportunity to do some vending and clear out some bins. And make a lil scratch for the ferry! Look at that sweet Kelly Knobby-X! Anyone have one they want to sell? A 54?!?!

The camping area had three fire pits, spaced apart. At first, it seemed like a silly idea, but it was actually brilliant. Each pit ended up having a different personality and vibe. Although its hard to see, someone is jumping over the fire on a bicycle in this photo. This was not the laid back fire pit!

It wasn’t the best weather on Sunday for the ride home. We hitched a ride and I really liked how our bicycles’ tires looked when on the bike-rack. I think we were all pretty dang happy with our own personal choices.

See you next time! -Chilly Willy
