Remember blogs? I used to like blogs. I still like blogs, but I used to too. I like them more than ever before. I mean real blogs, like back in the day when humans wrote all the words! Real voices. Real points of view. And more time to write and read compared to facebook and instagram posts. And maybe a larger screen if you’re reading this on a computer.
These are my crappy words and blurry photos! Basic and real, like a bicycle. There are a lot of social media accounts, websites and internet guides for riding bicycles that are simply ai slop with no real information, photos the author did not take and routes they have never even ridden. I ride. I write. This is a website from the modern Golden Age of Bicycles; when Shimano was at nine speeds, 26in wheels ruled the world and headsets were pretty dang simple to rebuild or replace!
With this site, I hope to entertain a reading public of over a dozen people with trip reports and educate at least two or three people with informative posts. Also, hopefully, I will sell a few t-shirts and stickers or some specialty equipment along the way to support a bicycle based lifestyle. It would be really, really awesome if this made me independently wealthy.
And Who am I? I’m Chilly, aka Chilly Willy aka Chill Will aka Chessmaster Chill Will. I currently mostly ride bicycles on Martha’s Vineyard with escapes via ferry to Cape Cod when work allows. I used to mostly ride bicycles in Key West and South Florida where you can see far more gators, turtles and birds than hills, pavement or cars. Before island life, I rode bicycles and grew up in Hartford, Connecticut; which actually has some great river riding.
