Nutmeg Nor’Easter 2018!

This was my introduction to all things Crusty and full of Romance. My co-worker Moody suggested the ride and we were lucky enough to be given a spot to camp the night before. We parked off-site and rode our bicycles to the backyard. LOTS of people from both CT and NYC…and beyond!

Live music aaand quinoa pancakes before the ride? Yes please and thank you!

This was right on the water, with a great view, but the morning breeze wasn’t the warmest. Pancakes, music, coffee and conversation helped keep us warm. I saw a few familiar faces and made some new friends. It really was a great way to start the day after waking up in a (kind) stranger’s backyard!

There were some super fancy, pretty bicycles on display, with matching accoutrements for the ride. Crusts and Rivendells everywhere! Ride pics are next, but there is a lot more morning bike porn after the photos of the ride and the pizza party! mmmhmmmm…. Pizza!

There had been some rain, but the leaves were still pretty and we stayed dry and warm.

First stop. Nice long break in the woods!

Still breakin’ in the woods…

More of a walk-a-bike section due to so many people than a hike-a-bike. Always good to stretch out different muscles.

Typical Fall Nutmeg Country pavement.

There had definitely been some rain!

Too much of a gap for any of us to just jump!

It looked even worse from the other side! Grateful we didn’t have to ride in the weather responsible for all the damage.

Pie break in Chester Center. A very, very, very lovely and quaint town Main Street.

Post-ride pizza from Fire in the Kitchen!

Pizza in action! It was so good.

Lots of Crusts.

And Crusts.
